Título: Old problems revisited !
Abstract:We present the progress we made on two old problems, namely the Milne equation, and resonant scattering processes. In fact, those two topics date from the early days of quantum mechanics, as far back as 1930. In previous presentations, we discussed those problems in the context of finding a new formulation for the Milne equation, and in the context of charge transfer in ultracold atom-ion collisions. In this presentation, we review the origin of the Milne equation, and its appeal and pitfalls, and show how our approach resolves them, allowing to find the exact wave function in a scattering problem. In the second problem on resonant scattering processes, we derive a simple expression relating the s-wave scattering regime to the cross section. In practice, this expression links the s-wave regime to higher temperatures, allowing to gain information about the s-wave regime high about the Wigner regime from the s-wave signature.
